Nail in tire

I got a nail in one of my eagle f1's and the dealer says it can't be repaired because it is illegal to repair these tires. The nail is not in the sidewall. Any truth to this? I even asked if they could just patch it temporarily until the new tire comes in but they insisted that it is illegal and can't do it.

Unless there is an obscure law in Ohio regarding it, no, it's not. Generally, the runflat tires can be patched one time, as long as the hole isn't too large and only in the tread area. Plugs are not recommended and any damage in sidewalls cannot be repaired. The tire will also lose its speed rating, but that shouldn't affect anyone who doesn't track the car. I'd check with a local tire shop and get their opinion before just buying a new tire from the dealer. It may be they just want to sell you a tire, and not mess with patching it. Wouldn't be the first time I've heard that happening.

I searched the Internet and can't find any law about this. The tire is holding air with a real slow leak and I don't track the car. They actually wanted to keep the car until the tire came in. I told them no....crazy...

I'd probably just go to a local tire shop and have them patch it from the inside. Do not plug it.

I had a large screw removed and plugged externally at a Les Schwab store. Just returned from a 3,700 mile trip to the Ron Fellows Performance Course for new Corvette owners with no tire issues. And, I drove sections of the Pacific costal highway 101 quite hard applying what I learned at this great two day class in Perump NV.

I am going to replace the tire but I am keeping the old one. Probably make a tire swing out of it...Nice vette by the way. I hope to get one in about 2 years.
