Don't wanna grenade

Hey crew,

For my 13' 6 banger (auto trans) i want to install an ark cat back exhaust and a cai intake. Thing is, I saw an episode of two guys garage and they said for llt camaro's, drop the ignition spark by a certain amount for every 50 hp added. (Something along those lines). Anyways, what should I do at the same time as this install to avoid damage to the motor/transmission due to the added torque and power. If I'm not mistaken the v6 auto transmission's are rated for 375hp safely.

I'm all ears,
Thanks guys

you're not gonna hit a 50hp increase with an axle back and intake. Id imagine not even throwing a tune in would get you to 50hp gain. you should be fine with just bolting up

Good afternoon! You can safely add our intake system and Cat back exhaust without having to worry about engine and transmission problems. We have sold tens of thousands of intake kits to customers like yourself running an exhaust with the our intake and experienced nothing but great tone and added performance. You will be glad you added these parts to your car!

Love my CAI Inc intake and my Stainless Work Retro Chambered Cat-back, haven't had any issues with either product in the 2 years they've been on my car.

They were probably talking about a nitrous appication where you have to retard the timing a certain amount of degrees depending on the size of the shot. Or on a boosted engine doing the same for certain psi levels.

Never heard of the same idea on naturally aspirated engines. If anything, a more efficient engine can handle more timing. Only time you have to start backing timing is if you increase compression.

Plus, I would take the "technical" advice of that show with a grain of salt...

Agree with all above... you might get an extra 10 HP out of the cat backs and CAI. Also, just FYI, your 2013 is an LFX engine - not an LLT. Very different animals.

I was wondering how long it was going take for someone to tell the OP he had an LFX .

I had a '12 45th V6. I came to the conclusion that they squeezed about as much horsepower as could be asked from the LFX. There may be a few more ponies "sleeping" in there but I'm skeptical. I suppose a turbo would boost things but a wise man once told me, in the hot rod world, you don't get sumpin' fer nothin...meaning a real HP mod/gain will only lead to the NEXT upgrade.

You change one thing because you WANT to, you change three more because you HAVE to! Words to live by...
