the last gen of the GTO's did the same thing. It was basically the same chassis. Definetly something to check.

There is not a rub issue as mentioned about a dozen times above....

Rubbing will be a constant mark that is smooth...What he is pointing at is coating missing from debris that the wider and sticker tires pick up and throw at the bottom of the strut....hence the chip and now rust there.

The GTO rub issue was a true rub and was corrected:

Thanks Dropspeed for clarifying. I do clearly remember the issue with the Goats as it was something that I always checked every time I rotated me tires. I literally had...and I do repeat..less than an inch clearance between my front tires and the bottom of the strut spring boss. I had the 18 inch rims and never had a issue with the tire rub, but with such a tight tolerance, I kept an eye on it. It was just initial reaction to a problem that I hopefully was getting away from.

Peace,

Brent

Well, as long as we're talking about rub marks, I noticed some marks just above the exhaust hangers on the rear mufflers. I think you can shake up the exhaust pretty good on a hard launch, and the result is that the rubber pieces that connect the hangers make contact with the subframe. Maybe it's just my car, I really don't know. Just wanted to spread the word. I have the NPP option btw.
