Just another FYI for everyone to consider: another VERY well known LS3 issue (and in fact L99) is a leaking rear main gasket on the oil pan. If your car doesn't sit for long, chances are that you may never even notice a leak. Best way to make sure is to physically get underneath the car and run your hand along the rear of the pan.

If the LS3 engines are suffering from this how come GM has not fixed this issue yet?

Thank you William. The nagging questions in my mind are
1. The oil pump issues seems to have some history dating back to 2010 and from my recent experience, there still appears to be issues - why hasn't GM addressed this yet? Is it not catastrophic enough in terms of the impact it has on the reliability of the engine, not enough failure count or no good solution is available? 2. It appears that there are alternative pumps that provide more performance and reliability - I realize there is probably an impact in the unit cost to the currrent release, but if you roll in the warranty dollars and voice of the customer is there not a business case to use the alternative? |
