Z06 vs Viper T/A

I know this was posted on C5, but not sure why no one has posted it on the Corvette forum.

This happened around my area over the weekend, Tony the driver/owner of the Viper T/A is an awesome guy and a hell of a driver. I got to see that first hand at my last track day.

Anyways, I'm a bit surprised that the Z06 got walked so easily every single time. Apparently there are some IAT issues, which is sad since this is December..

Or stopping it. And the Z06 is way more comfortable to drive - the Viper TA is basically a street legal race car. The Z06 is a race-capable street car. Just remember, any car can be made to go fast in a straight line by just dumping more money into it (Veyron, anyone?), but to go fast around turns is something else entirely. There will always be a few cars quicker off the line, or faster through the quarter mile, or more luxurious than our beloved Corvettes. But we have by far the best balance of all those traits, and more besides, for a price some consider outright theft. There is no other car anywhere that delivers more bang for the buck than the Corvette in all its variants.

Sales numbers back this up. Hail to the King! Ling live Corvette!

I'm not sure if you guys are joking or not, but if you are not joking, the Viper T/A can go around corners. I'd still rather have the Z06, but the Viper is one badarse car.

Thanks. Still something's not right. I don't believe the stock Viper can pull on the C7 Z06 like that. Gearing?

Wouldn't mind having all four of those parked in my driveway, as long as one of them stayed when the party was over.

There is some word floating around the internet stating the Z06's LT4 intentionally reduces power for the first 500 miles. Once the engine has been broken in, the power increases. This has apparently been done by the engineers to help ensure long life for the engine. I know for fact the Stingray LT1 limits RPMs for the first 500 miles for the same reason, so this makes sense. Many track and dyno runs are being performed on cars fresh from the dealer - they likely are not experiencing full power yet! I'm curious to know if the Z06 in the video had over 500 miles. It may be worth a rematch on a few weeks!

I believe it had 200 miles on it.
