Since it seems like others have answered your three questions I want to add little bit myself.

As a fellow A6 owner don't underestimate the power of a tranny tune. It'll make or break your experience with this car. Also, the right tranny tune will make up for the lack of 26 hp from not having the LS3. As a side note, if your tuner does street tunes do it. Every street tune car I've seen beats dyno tuned cars.

I had one aggressive tune ‘break’ my torque converter too. Or…it just exposed a borderline, defective part. That was more the tuner’s perspective. The second tune has done well. But my tuner suggested some push the tranny to the limit and possibly beyond. But it is definitely the most recognizable part of the tune.
