Smile Tuning

Is there any handheld tune holders I could get? I don’t know what a better name for it is, but a way to quickly select between different tunes, or turn off a specific tune, I want to tune my car to make it pop, but don’t want it to be popping and crackling when I leave the house early in the morning. I have a V6.

Also is there anyway, to make the car make LESS hp rather then more? The only reason for this is to help me drive in the winter lol.

Put the car in Snow/Ice Mode.

Like mentioned above snow/ice mode sounds like your best bet

As others said, snow/ice mode is the most limited out of the box. Have you tried it? Was the car still too powerful or the throttle too responsive even in that mode? My recollection of the V6 is that it won't lurch or spin the tires unless you really want it to...

Even if handheld "tune switchers" do exist, I wouldn't use them, because if they rewrite the tune every time you "switch", I'd be concerned about flash storage wear inside the ECM.

On the other hand, an OBD-II device can modify inputs or generate fake ones, theoretically it could also reduce performance. However, so far I've only heard of power boosters such as RaceChip, but even that is only available for the I4

If I'm not mistaken from what I know and have read over the years about the popping and crackling on any of theses cars, you can't "adjust" it you can only tune it out, or leave it there. It is what's called DFCO..." Deceleration Fuel Cutoff". When you let off the throttle the ECM shuts off the fuel to the injectors and hence air is introduced and no fuel, so it pops and crackles. With an aftermarket exhaust it is really loud.

I Used to live in Antioch ill, your best bet is the snow/ice mode and maybe an extra set of wheels with winter tires, extra weight in the back helps the car hook as well.

This^^^

I’ll date myself with an old timer story, but back in the day I had a new ‘97 WS6 Formula that was my daily driver (when you’re young you gotta rock it year round &#128514. For the winter, I finally broke down and bought a set of base model Firebird wheels and put winter tires on it. I was absolutely stunned at how much better it was in the snow.
