So.. Stupid Question..

I have a 2013 RS LT, and I was messing around in the system settings and saw there was a way to update the software with a USB drive. Is there anyway to implement a service like Apple Carplay using this method?

No, you are still constrained by the limits of what the MyLink system is capable of and Apple Carplay is not supported by the version of hardware and software that runs in the Gen 5.

Not using that method.. but I've seen people add apple carplay to the mylink system. Check out this link

For the price they are asking, wouldn't it be more of a benefit to just upgrade the HU to one already capable?

Yeah, pretty close to that price point. I guess it just comes down to whether or not someone wants to keep the OEM look.

There are items out there though the keep it close to the OEM look. But I want to say pretty much everyone agrees, changing out the HU is like the best upgrade for quality of sound.
