Drag Launch questions
Hi guys,
I have a 2017 SS A8 mods as follows- Texas speed longtubes Procharger p1x stage 2 intercooler Trans tuned 305-45-17 Mickey thompson ET street SS Last night at the track i couldnt get a hard launch. Finally, for some reason at 1600 stall up the car launches like a bullet. Anything lower or higher doesnt launch nearly as hard. My best run (Dissapointing to me) was 11.3 at 123mph with a 1.87 60 foot. My goal is to get the car in 10s. I was thinking next meth and pully down? Suggestions, advice? How far off am i from breaking into 10s? Thanks much, chris.

I have a whipple instead of procharger so best launch technique might be a bit different. Best 60' times have come from flat foot off idle. I have tried anywhere from idle up to 2,000 rpm stall. Hits the hardest off of idle. Other technique some others use that I have just started to try is holding brake at idle, smash throttle continue to hold brake until you seen rpms pass 2,000 then release brake. If you get you 60' into the 1.5s you will be knocking on the door of the 10s.
I would do lt4 fueling before meth but meth is cheaper. Either one with a lower pulley could get you there with some improvement in your 60'. Good luck. |

Procharger needs to spin up if u want it to leave like a PD blower u will need a converter, your mph looks low makes me wonder if your iats wasnt so high it was pulling timing I would do the Lt4 fuel system pulley down and then Meth to keep the iats in check also not sure how bad the tires are hurting you , most use the Mickey Rs

You really need to datalog your passes and line out your tune. In your Sig it says 571whp, trapping 123 is way too low for the power it dyno'd at. Good luck man and keep at it.

My opinion is, FIRST figure out what is going wrong before throwing any more parts at it. Like Snowblind said, datalogging would be nice. The power that you have should get you in the 10s and YES I mean using a centrifugal supercharger with the stock torque converter. I had a centrifugal supercharger (base Paxton) with stock exhaust system (meaning very likely less power than you have) and the stock torque converter. In hot summer weather, I ran high 10s at 123~125mph. Yes the heat slows down the superchargers, but your car's slow short times need some attention regardless. Mine was running 1.6 short times with the stock torque converter in the heat, so my experience is, the short time should not be as far from the positive displacement cars as people are saying it is.

Contacting my tuner today he thinks the torque tables may be off.

I agree, I went 11.2 @ 122 mph with 491 rwhp, his car should be trapping way more than mine.
