Christmas snow removal - advice!?
Merry Christmas!
Yesterday we got about 5 to 6 inches of snow - our first white Christmas in over 10 years. While I was out shoveling my driveway and sidewalks, my neighbor Randy was out doing the same with his family. He recently purchased a really nice black Subaru SUV. His wife was out and about in it during the snowfall. As he was finishing the shoveling, his wife arrived home, and Randy proceeded to brush the snow off the Subaru with a push broom. It took everything I had to keep my mouth shut. I thought to myself "Don't give advice when it's not asked for." I have never seen Randy out hand washing his car, so it's probably not very important to him. I'm going to try to remember this a bit more in the coming year. Bill

Honestly you did the right thing.Some people do not think the way we do.Mine is asleep all covered up inside.work truck gets the push broom treatment outside. Lol !

The damage is at least superficial. 90% of people don’t realize that it’s damaging and can’t see/notice swirls any ways. I’d only offer advice is asked.

Regardless of what you use you will scratch the paint. I understand that. I also know that driving will cause scratches and paint chips. I park mine outside and use a brush with soft bristles to take off the snow.

I used a broom on my pick-up and the wifes minivan. Alot easier than a little snow brush.
Use a soft brush on my camaro. it scratches the paint anything you use will scratch the paint. Who cares. You just polish it out in the spring.

I will let you guys sort out how to handle the snow. I'm hopping in my Vert this week and heading south for Florida for three months. I'll think of you when I'm on the beach.

I've been known to use a broom on my truck occasionally. I fully understand what it does to the paint finish, and I would never do that to my car. For my truck though, I'm simply not as particular.
You did the right thing by not saying anything.

Sand will hurt your paint more than snow be careful. |
