Cog driven maggy question?
So I am currently running an overdriven rear pulley setup on my maggy 2300. What are the pros/cons of cog driving it?

you're going to be making higher boost, so be sure you dont go with a really small pulley size on the front on a stock engine or you could run into problems. The cog drives also whine more FYI.
Can you explain your question more; or what you are trying to do?

Seems like you need the 1:1 cog drive. Jessika at Maggie should be able to hook you up. If you OD the rear cog you will gain a few lbs. of boost. Which on a stock engine may not be wanted. You can OD the rear cog and the pulley up (going to a bigger pulley) the fron to compensate and bring the boost back down.

3.8" pulley up front and OD in the rear with 1&3/4 LTs on mine ran me at 11PSI.

How are you running 3.6 up front an OD Cog Drive in the back and getting 9PSI without running a cam, lower compression, etc?

Mines not cog, just overdriven pulleys in the rear. It's at 9 psi, is that really low? Im not sure how much differences there are between the auto and manual motors, but mine is the auto. What is the max psi a stock motor can handle (L99)?

I can't speak to the stock boost safety thing other than to say it's more complicated than a simple PSI number... you can kill a motor on low boost with bad tune, fuel, etc.. |

I have a set a vendor sold me and told me I'd be fine with.. I wasn't.. It made 11 PSI (was told about 9.5) with all my mods even on a 3.8" stock front TVS pulley. So, now I have a 375.00 paper weight that I can't use due to too much boost on a stock internal LS3. I can't seem to sell them either..
I can't tell you how they'd work on your car and I don't want to steer you in the wrong direction by giving you the wrong data and you end up blowing something up.. Just telling you what I dealt with.. The two people I talked to over at Magnuson were surprised I was trying to run them on a stock block as they don't really recommend that for the reasons I saw. The 1:1 cogs are what you want for just sound and more belt grip, but at your boost level I doubt you're seeing slippage in the first place... But, if you do want to go with the OD cogs.. I will sell you my set for 300.00 shipped to you. They don't come with the new machined fuel rail for clearance as I bought them before that was resolved, but your local shop shouldn't' have any issues clearancing your passenger side fuel rail. Mine were only on the car for the 1 dyno pull where the engine start pinging and pulling timing.. I personally wouldn't run 11-13 PSI even with a good fuel system on a stock set of pistons.. I'm sure you could do it and it would live for a while, but that's a lot of boost on a stock motor, even the slightly lower compression L99. One little thing goes wrong at that rating and your engine will most likely fail. |

Does it take a lot of time to remove the and put the cogs on or does the blower have to be removed?

I believe on our cars they can be changed out while the s/c is still on the car. I can't give a time estimate. There are a couple threads on the topic in the FI area that could better answer that.

But if I have over drive and I go to 1:1 cogs it would be a step back wouldnt it?
