z28 flares coming off

Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue? I know a couple of other guys on FB z28 page have reported their flares are coming off. I took mine in for that but the service manger says he can not warranty it because the adhesive coming off the flare was my fault.

If your flare is coming off if you could please post a picture so I could message the GM Reps on here with hopes of getting this fixed (Im sure they are probably reading this also). Just a shame that with the money we spent on these cars that GM would not warranty the flares that are coming off.

Because most dealers don't care about you. They do care about your money though.

My Front Passenger fender flare is starting to separate. All others look good. You are looking straight down on the top of the flare. I had the car out yesterday and it's really nasty out here since they've over salted the roads. Won't be able to wash it until Thursday / Friday but can take a new picture for you then.

IMO this was the bad part of the add on's of the Z/28, GM needed to drill holes and use set screws in the fenders like they did in the bumpers to hold it in place.

I took my z28 in a few months ago because my flair was coming off and they told me warranty would not cover it because it was my fault it was coming off. Eventually they replaced it but said that part won't be covered in the future.

I posted about this last year. Dealer fixed under warranty.

Someone else posted later that the flares are connected to the front splitter and if you tag the splitter it can force the flares to pop. Doesn't have to be hard either.

You are right, the flare towards the front is held in to the bumper with 4 little screws; but over the wheel well it relies on the special adhesive.

Since it is a part of the factory redesign add-on Z28 package I'm guessing that Chevy did not want to drill holes in the metal fender as it could make it prone to rusting or flaws in paint near the flare area. They did feel safe drilling holes in the bumper since that was plastic.
