Maybe California could look into a pot or windmill powered car. Surely taxpayer funded research to the tune of tens of millions isn't out of the question. When i was stationed there i saw what i perceived to be many pot powered cars anyhow.

That's the thing about renewables that hippies don't seem to understand: renewable energy still has a long way to go until they can provide the majority of out energy needs.

Until then, they need the R&D money. Where does that R&D come from?

It would appear that Fred and Barney constructed this concept vehicle long before it was considered politically advantageous. Never saw or read anything more about it. I'm pretty sure "Big Oil" purchased the patent rights and terminated the project.

The mandate wouldn't do anything about existing cars and used cars except slowly price them out of use during registration and inspection and insurance.

I guess we could go back to literal horse-power. They poop fertilizer and when they die their remains enrich the soil.

But it's safe to assume we're going to continue to look to technology to solve problems that were caused by...technology.

I'm just kidding, mostly.

Some of it will depend on the potential underlying media generated disdain for gas powered vehicles. Could what happened to fur coats of the past happen to gas powered vehicles of the future. Park your V8, go to a movie, only to return later to your car finding it with paint dumped all over it?
