Trunk Won't Open

Had a great weekend with my boys and wife in the ZLE. Unfortunately, we went to a little local spot where there are quite a few cars. Wife had to get something out of the trunk and went to shut it. I *think* she started to use the safety release from the inside of the trunk to pull it shut and I stopped her and said just lower it a little and once it gets half way the spoiler weight will shut it for you. Can't get mad at her because she didn't want to touch the lid to lower it and risk scratching the car with her Nails, Rings, Bracelets etc. Anyways, now the fob and the button on the door actuate the release but it doesn't "pop" if that makes sense? Any way to manually do this or will this be a warranty issue for the dealer? Car has 700 miles on it and had no issues with the trunk previously.

When you say it doesnt "pop" open, does that mean it doesnt open at all? or you just have to lift it?

Go in (or send one of the boys in haha) through the back seat and open it from the inside to make sure its not jammed in the shut position.

It doesn't open at all. I can hear the actuator working like it should but the trunk never actually releases. I thought the Zl1 1LE seats didn't lay down?

Try some gentle downward pressure near the latch while pushing the button.

The trunk latch may need some adjustment. Can you pull the trunk lid up when you hear the click after pressing the release button? Given the mileage and depending on your willingness to mess with it, I'd probably just take it in. BTW I usually close the trunk by gently grabbing and pulling on the black plastic sheath around the latch assy on the lid.

Oh, and your wife's a definite keeper

Haha, she is a keeper! Not how she was 12 years ago when I met her...but she has came a long way. Actually I think she just doesn't want to hear me bitch about it.
I have tried lifting up on it at the same time. Also tried applying even and constant pressure while lifting it up. Did the same with constant pressure pushing down on the lid while hitting the unlock button.

Just to warn you mine did it once and when I did get it open it took me a while to get it to close and latch.

Id let the dealer mess with it while its closed and you can drive it.

Can you release the seats, crawl into the trunk and use the release latch, maybe it's like stuck half way or something.

Dumb question but did you try the button on the door panel.

Sometimes when my Fob doesn't work or the button by the license plate the door will work.

This happened to my trunk once too. I had to push down on the lid really hard a few times to get it to completely lock. After that, it would open again.

Yep this has happened twice on my ZLE and I put my palm on the wing and pushed down (pretty) firmly and then it was able to pop when I tried it again.
