Dj grilles tomahawk help!
So I have a few questions about the hood insert! I think it looks good and was wondering if anyone has installed one yet? I heard some people in the forum have had trouble with rusting issues. What area would be prone to rust? I know many here love the hex vents but my question for now is on this insert only.
On a side note I should be ordering my z/28 spoiler tomorrow! |

DJ Grilles is kinda expensive and requires modification from a body shop usually though they do make a high end product typically. anvil auto also make a hood vent though if you are looking for an alternative, but it doesn't insert like DJ tomahawk does. good luck with your choice

Thanks for the recommendation. I heard some people are having rust issues with certain dj grille products. Is anyone here running the tomahawk hood insert ?

I had horrible rush issues with my DJ grilles predator grille. But I sent it back and they replaced it free of charge!

Guys, in 2011 we did have a batch of grilles that were powder coated by a vendor that used contaminated sandblasting equipment and did not properly prepare the parts before coating. It came to our attention later, in addition, they used low quality powder and poor production methods. This was back in 2011.
Since then we require any vendor we use to follow ISO certified standard processes that begin with: 1) Sandblast entire parts, all sides. 2) Clean the parts with a 4-Stage Spray Phosphate Power Wash complete with a De-Ionized water final rinse. The system is Statistically Process Controlled (SPC) for Chemical Concentration, Total Dissolved Solids, Solution Temperature and pH balance to ensure a clean surface prior to the first stage of coating. The parts are then dried in the oven to remove any residual moisture after the wash. 3) We then apply a base coat of powder coat primer, cure at 400 deg. 4) Then top coat with black 20% gloss powder, cure at 400 deg. We have been using this process since late in 2012 and have had excellent product quality and results with no issues. I would also like to mention that we have repaired, or replaced any products that have come to our attention with issues even after the warranty expired. In response to the Tomahawk we include an installation template with photo and written instructions to ease the installation as much as possible. If you get a chance check out our website under camaro, Tomahawk for more information. |

I figured out why not many have this grille it list for 595.00 on dj's website and there is no guarantee it'll fit with superchargers or strut braces. The 14 ss hood vent and strut brace can be retrofitted for half of that and will be oem parts and if I had to bet will clear most centri superchargers and strut braces. I'm going with the 14ss retrofit instead this thread now has my permission to die lol
