Fender bender, need help replacing a part

I was backed into while at school, of course the culprit didn't leave any information. And being a young man driving a sports car my insurance is already astronomically high, so I'm trying to avoid claiming this. My right quarter panel is going to have to be replaced. I found a right quarter panel already primed with black paint, new, for a 2010 camaro, mine is a 2012 so the fitting shouldn't be a problem. My only question is the roof looks seamless like its all one big piece. But the part stops right above the smaller window. Is that a difference in the 2012 and 2010? Or do they find some way to snap them together and make it seamless? The only reason I'm just not letting a shop fix this is they're trying to charge me 2 grand =(.

You are talking about the rear quarter panel, right? This is not a do it yourself job. The rear quarter panel does not "snap on". You would have to cut the old one off and weld in the new one.

But given that this is a fender bender, I question whether any sheet metal needs to be replaced. Have you been to a body shop with this?

I didn't expect it to be a DIY I'm just looking for every possible way to make this cheaper. Figured getting the piece and getting it painted takes away a ton of the hours they're charging me for. Yeah I brought it to a body shop, it would need replacing.
