I can't see any scenario where the 8 speed should be rated worse than the 6 speed. No...it doesn't make much of a difference, but it should not be worse. In the Colorado's case, GM says it made "incremental" differences in MPG....the last time I checked Fuelly.com and looked at the Colorado V6 numbers, the 2017 had the same or a hair better average mileage than the 2016. By the way, it does seem common that the 8 speed does feel a bit clunky until its warmed up a bit. So if you are noticing in morning when leaving your house that it seems a bit harsh, but pretty good after that....that's common. Not saying its right...but it sounds common.

It still periodically seems like it's hesitant to downshift but that's usually when I'm following a grandma or something. It is much improved overall.

I think GM should really consider dropping the 6.2 in the ZR2.

The LF3/LF4 would be a lot simpler to do for more or less the same result.

They do a 6.2 Colorado (off road or sport) and I might just sell both the Camaro and my current 15 Colorado for it lol. It would be tempting anyways!
But I see zero chance of them stuffing that engine in there.

For an above average off roader the 6.2 just isn't necessary. The current diesel and the 5.3 L83 would be ideal for this truck. So, they've got one right, just gotta get a small V8 in there.

Bring it Ford. I'm betting this Ranger will force GM to drop a more powerful engine in the Colorado.

Said they heard the sound of a diesel engine in it. I don't think that would force GM to do anything, although if its the 3.2 as they stated it will be more powerful than the diesel in the GM twins. But if Ford drops the 2.7 V6 turbo in there, the twins don't currently have an engine to compete with that combination of HP/TQ. So that means 5.3 V8, or the LF3/LF4 (likely LF3) to the rescue. But I'm not convinced GM will put a bigger more powerful engine in these twins unless they do a real sport version. As for daily driving, the 3.6 in my Colorado is more than adequate. It runs good, pulls hard, and maintains low rpms even on many of the slight inclines I encounter on my daily drive. Kick it down and she goes! Said it before...say it again...a turbo V6 or V8 in these trucks would be amaze-balls.
