Question ZL1-2018 inside hood mod Q?

just joined & this is my first post. last year I traded in my 07 M6 BMW & purchased 2018 ZL1 convertible- **awesome car, just love it & waiting for spring time. I want to customize the inside of the hood and considering removing the inside liner so it can be painted ( I saw this referred to as a rain guard or heat shield but not sure of the correct term) I don't want to remove the scope that shows on the outside but just the inside panel . I looks like a series of bolts hold the liner but also has another set of bolts closer to the inside. any advice on how & if I should attempt to remove this myself. I have limited mechanical skills. appreciate any help!

I've read you can take the water deflector off during track events but needs to be put back on for daily driving to keep the rain water from dropping on the electronics under the hood. I think it shows how to remove it in the owners manual for the ZL1. It should be pretty easy to remove.

If your going to just get it custom painted I would just pick a pretty week with no rain and should be fine if it is your daily driver. Post some Pics if you get some custom paint work done

Check page 42 and 43 in the link below, this may help on the removel
