Sometimes my first impressions are not my lasting impressions. Both of these are keepers; they have their place.

Made a variant of Limoncello except used limes and 1800 tequila. Came out like a candy margarita.

Jefferson's Reserve. Another first timer; "Reserving" judgement at this point. It has a very different flavor than the bourbons that I usually buy.

Knob Creek is my current "go to", it has bite.

Michter's US*1 is smoothe, but hard to find, at least in NC.

I'll take a look while I'm there.

Belle Meade.

First time trying it, but I believe it is a keeper.

While I'm not sure how you can produce bourbon in Tennessee, it is labeled as bourbon, not Tennessee whiskey.

Doesn't matter where it is distilled as long as they follow certain rules.

All Tennessee whiskeys are "bourbon" but not all bourbons are Tennessee whiskey.

Tennessee whiskey is a bourbon that has had the extra step of being charcoal filtered before bottling. It is this extra process that makes it a "Tennessee whiskey".

Belle Mead is I believe still a non-distiller producer as they do not actually make whiskey at all. Just a brand name for a generic whiskey produced by a third party at the giant MGP distillation facility in Indiana. MGP is a contract distillery that supplies MANY of the non-distiller producers.

My statement was not completely serious, and normally I would do my own research, but this time I just didn't.

Thank you both for your posts and comments.

here's what I picked up and waxed myself at Makers...

Plus a bourbon slush to beat the heat while I was there...
