Arrow Is it upbadging?

What are you guys opinion on putting a ls3 badge on a l99 that has been converted to a ls3? I know you guys are probably going to say it’s my car do whatever but I don’t want to look silly. Would you guys personally do it?

There was no ‘official’ LS3 or L99 badge, per se, that I know of. So in a way, both are not in keeping with OE. My $0.02.

Yea it’s these nice badges from eBay. I just didn’t want that smoke at car meets with my car being a auto rocking the LS3 badge. If I did add it, I was going to put two on my cowl hood when it comes in.

They are pretty much the same thing especially when you mod it to a ls3. No big deal at all doing it imo. Only time people get mad if you put a zl1 badge in a 6 cylinder or a ss without a blower on it.

I agree! LS3/L99 is no big deal. Just don't put SS or ZL1 badging on a 6 banger.

I have an actual LS3 in my auto Camaro SS and will probably never rock an LS3 badge. Not that I give the slightest crap what others say, but I know I would occasionally get the know-it-all trying to convince me that I have an L99 and couldn't possibly have an LS3.

My opinion on the matter though, since you are asking, is to be proud of your L99. Even if converted it is still an L99. You likely still have valve relief pistons, slightly lower compression, and heavier solid valves/823 heads. But on the same token, if you modded an actual LS3 to have different pistons, heads, and compression, is it no longer an LS3? Thankfully most people have come around and realized that a modded L99 is every bit as potent as an equally modded LS3, so I say be proud of that L99.

For what it's worth, I still consider my car an L99 car (with an LS3 swap) since that is how it originally came from the factory, and is also a J VIN car.

I think you get like 50 whp just by doing it. With the ZL1 like Hugh said, that’s like 65 who added.

I think it’s fine to put an RS on a ZL1 though!
