Tonneau Cover: do you use it?

I have discussions about not using a Tonneau Cover. I don’t cover up in town under 45 mph or so, but I can’t imagine not using it at highway speeds. I see the fabric of the top in the rearview and it’s not exactly sitting still. I even see some folks selling theirs- https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=579100

Do you use the cover, or not use the cover? Your logic? Success or failure?

I use mine for the same reasons you bring up. That being said, biggest issue is that it’s a little inconvenient to take on and off when going on short trips (I don’t leave the top down when not in the car).

I will put on when going on the highway but for small local trips, I do not.

I'll use when I know I'll be on the highway or a long trip. You have to protect not just the top, but the mechanisms. That being said, a quick drive around town, I may not bother. I wish they weren't so expensive because I would love to have one in reserve.

Here’s a link showing a solution for the cover lifting up and potentially going airborne. Might save a few hundred dollars to make the modification now.

I stopped putting my on for this very reason. I am going to try this fix. I would prefer to have it one but hate having to have my wife jump in the back seat at 80 MPH to grab the cover before it blows completely off.

She rarely has the top up.
I leave the cover on.

The newer tonneau tops have these bunge cords on them that the old ones didn't. I can't say for certain, but I think the problem with them flying off on the newer styles is almost non-existent if installed correctly. The first time I used mine I almost lost it until I noticed I installed it incorrectly but since then, it's worked perfectly fine for me.

Other than providing security for your cargo area. A tonneau cover will help with your truck's fuel efficiency. I wonder if it has the same effect on a convertible car.

I use the cover when on the highway. I had the top start to wear from flopping around on highway without cover . the dealer replaced the top while still in warranty with the corded top.
