SD Card for PDR

Question: Please tell GM to start providing a formatted SD card with each car with a PDR. I've wasted hours formatting cards in different ways incl. FAT32 but the car still does not see the card. Thanks

Might be a bad drive in PC or car. I \'ve used several brands from several places and did not format them and they worked fine. I've also formatted some and only FAT32 worked. Max size is 32G unless recently changed.
Are you getting any messages from PDR?

Yes, it says SD card not inserted.

I've tried two different cards in FAT32 and another format. Can the USB port be used for an SD card? I have a nice USB SD card read writer

This is from the manual - FAT32 formatted SD card, Class 10 required, 8, 16, or 32 GB recommended. The SD card reader is below the instrument panel to the left of the steering wheel and just above the hood release.

I saw a ;ot of similar issues on another forum and most were resolved by correct formatting and using a Class 10 card. Also USB drive will not get recognized for PDR.

I've been trying the SD reader in the console because the one you refer to is broken or something and I had to use pliers to get the card adapter out

The reader on the left side of the dash, you push the card in and it clicks in flush. Then you push it in again and it pops out.

You are saying once installed, when you push it in it doesn't pop back out?

Might have a bent pin in the socket which could cause it both not to work and not to pop out.

I have never seen anything that would indicate you can use anything but that socket for the PDR SD Card.

The centre console SD slot is for the Navigation SD(if you have navigation) or media storage(if you don't have navigation and swap the centre console one out with an adapter with SD slot).

As mentioned, the PDR slot is above the OBD2 port.

PDR will only use the one by the hood release and also pretty sure it needs to be a full size SD card, not a microSD with adapter. It's been a year or so but if I remember correctly the one in the console used to be for Navigation updates. I have a Z06 and C7 Corvettes only have the PDR reader. NAV updates are via USB in console.
The way these SD card readers work is you insert the SD card and push in until it locks. To remove it, you push it in and it will release and come back out enough that you can easily pull it.
If you originally used a microSD with adapter and the adapter is still in reader, I would carefully press it in like you were originally putting it in and that should release it if it's not damaged.
Good Luck.

My car is on the way to HPE for additional mods so I can't try that port again for a few weeks
