I find it hard to believe there’s not a better intake than a factory piece that’s been ported. Typically factory stuff isn’t that great, don’t get me wrong it is what it is and I have a GPI intake to install. An the FAST isn’t worth it for the literal few ponies it brings to the table vs what it cost.

Yes, we are used to factory stuff falling short. But Chevy did hit a home run with the LS3. I came from Fords, stock LS3 cylinder heads flow better than my $3000 dollar heads/valve train setup on my turbo 351W. Changing out the intake isn't worth it until you hit the 1000hp range FI or are doing an all out NA set up. Honest high end shops will talk you out of most after market intakes for 80-90% of us street car guys. That $1000 for a fast could be better spent elsewhere.

I'm seriously contemplating a new forged short block and building my own single turbo system and if I don't go to LS7 style heads/intake would keep the stock LS3 intake.

I've had a bit of a set-back guys, my new pistons were put on back order from Wiseco basically at the same time that I ordered them basically at the same time as the intake.

This is the state my car is in at the moment but once the pistons are here I'll reassemble and install with the BTR intake at the same time. I also ordered a new turbo, its a new gen custom design from Viren at VS racing, it's 85/96 1.25ar.

Wow that sucks that the pistons were back ordered! It's always nice to have everything on hand and do the job job all at once. Good luck sir, keep us posted.

I wonder how much the heatsoak factor is with the casting of the BTR3 vs my Holley Sniper EFI I have especially with boost. On the Gwatney intake shootout my Sniper was as good as the LOD to 7200rpm.

My LOD gets kinda warm after driving it hard for a bit and you stop, but if you touch it right away after driving, you can lay your hand on it and still feels cool to the touch. But when she sits for a while, like at a car show with the hood up, it cools down pretty quickly. Also when we tuned my LOD, we pulled it out to 7500 and it still wanted to go for more, but we stopped there as it wasn't necessary to pull it higher. Hope OP's build is still going on..Waiting patiently. lol

Tooooo funnyy. I guess in your eyes everyone with Holley high rams or LOD intakes go slower too, right?
