Mines had problems with the power steering and i plan on taking it back to Tim at T&T performance. Hopefully he can find what's causing this problem and have a fix for it. My car has had a number of mods done to it by Tim, and he has done alot of ZL1's in his shop. I'll post on the forums if he can figure out the answer to this problem. Untill this gets solved the car is staying off the track.

I'm confident that PS issues are like rest us, and it's not something T&T can resolve and 99.9% sure its unrelated to any mods you may have...

It's my belief it's within the electronics of the ZL1 that's the culprit.

I don't want to sound like an a-hole or anyting but you have a current drain in the system somewhere and until you find it I think you will have issues. that is if you batter is dead in the instances you post. a simple load test would tell you if the battery is low.

My zl1 sat for almost 3 months and started so you need to track that down as it is most likely your car. Could be something you added or a factory issue won't know till you find it. if the dealer sucks find a buddie or something that understands electronics. you test the car for current draw and then you pull fuses till it goes away.

you steering is always going to go crazy if you have low voltage conditions because it was designed around nominal voltage most likely.

1. do you use a batter tender????? if not buy one ASAP and see if that bandaids the problem.

my Corvettes were PITA with voltage and leaveing them on a tender was just a great way to never have and issue.

now if you get the current drain issue fixed and still have the problem then you need to look for corroision, connection, issues IMO.

I think delerships struggle with this because it is more of an electronics problem than a mechanical system and in my experience they are not good at electronics. they can replace parts but if you have a current drain issue it can eat dealership techs for lunch.

Someone mentioned this was a widespread problem but from what I see its less than a dozen cars out of 15 or 20k ZL1s produced? And all cars exhibiting the issue are modified?

I don't think the modified has anything to do with it as most modified cars are modified by mechanical means not electrical. Unless you got some guy with a fancy stereo.

On the poll taken thus far 5 non modified and 3 modified have electrical problems. Versus 40 total not having electrical problems about split on being modified or not. This is a very small sampling and thus no concrete conclusions should be assumed. But this problem needs to be resolved due to safety issues. If my car was not in storage for the past 4 months I would have had it looked at by now. Hopefully it's just a grounding issue that can be easily resolved.

That poll is misleading. A HUD issue vs power steering is very different. Either issue could be hardware, software, short, loose connection, etc. on very different components.

Your obviously not reading the whole thread!! My problems started with the POWER STEERING issues in the other thread and goto my 1st post in this thread as i highlighted two people that had or having same drain on battery..... Which really isn't the battery ...

I just tested with meter on battery and its fine and i consider myself someone knowledgeable to find a PARASTIC draw on the system and can not locate one ..

Which tells me something in the PCM or some other CPU is sending wrong signals out ... Thus Causing the problems !!!

And guess what? The ZL1 started just now, yet still lit up like a christmas tree on the dash!!

It should also be noted, before my PCM failure that lead-up to this post by me, I hired a company that specifically trained to look for shorts / Parasitic draws on my ZL1 at a cost of $550 for heir service and they could not find one either!

I hired the expert , because I wanted to blame AAC/ORACLE for bad install , cause first dead on arrival was right after I left their shop ( go to my first post) and company hired said no fault to AAC
