ZL1 - ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED !

** Yes, re-post as now aiming specifically at owners of ZL1's

So it happened to me yesterday with just under 18,000 miles on the odometer for the first time.

I've been doing some online checking and it appears a lot of 5th Gen Camaro's are experiencing this same D.I.C message with various symptoms being the root cause of the "ENGINE IS REDUCED POWER" message.

First, who has had them message and what was your repairs?

Second, at what mileage was on the odometer when it first displayed the message?

Third, is your 5th Gen Camaro stock or modified?
** I'm seeing that mostly stock 5th Gen's are getting this "ENGINE IS REDUCED POWER" message.

Lastly, anyone know of any known TSB's for this ?

I took no chances, once it happened to me yesterday , I pulled over and pressed OnStar for diagnostics and over 8 different trouble codes so, I had them tow to the nearest Chevy dealership.

Hey Spy,
I had this happen to me before, I think I have similar engine mods as your car, I got this twice on the same day, but the reason was obvious, it was from me, I basically turned on the ignition while the car software was updating from one of the LS1 program files Andy from Livernois sent me, and the car could not start afterwords. The car was parked, I didn't get it while driving. I just left the car, came next day and it started like nothing had happened, at that time I did the correct procedure to update the engine software, and didn't have problems after that.
The messages I got was : Engine power reduced, service stability track, and power steering.

Need to start with the list of codes set. Post them up and that would be a start. Several things can cause REP. And what are your mods. If you've done a pulley and whoever tuned it missed a particular diagnostic test that needs adjustment you will get REP

I got the same thing twice after hard acceleration before the car was completely warmed up. Car felt like it was running on 2 cylinders. I have the JDP700 package and my tuner said it was MAF scaling error in my tune and he corrected it immediately. No problems since.

You probably set P0101 and P0068 codes. Easily fixed in the tune.

That's exactly how the car felt like after I tried to re-start it and then I just shut it down and had it towed

Chevy dealer will give me the answers & codes on Monday and I'll post up ASAP

Thanks for ALL the replys

I have cleared those codes driving down the highway with the laptop in the passenger seat. Reset the codes and REP gone and it runs right again. Didn't even need to stop the car.

Dealership just called and said it that it's a wirng issue tied to the Cam sensor ?

They are trying to source if wiring to that sensor is bad or the sensor itself is bad!
