I would not recomend waxing the stripes. I generally tape them with blue painters tape. I use all "Chemical Guys" Products. They are top notch. For the stripes Chemical Guys has a product called Meticulous Matte which is a quick detail and spray sealant that will not leave streaks. Very good stuff.

For a wax, I like the butter wet wax for general use and the Jet Seal 109 is awesome and provides 6 -12 months of protection depending on the elements your car is exposed to.

They do a bunch of video's on YouTube that are a little cheesy, but I find the products to be top notch.

I have been using tech 2.0 since it came out. Works great and forgiving to use.

if there Matte don't bother it will just discolor them, the glossy ones you can wax with no issues, had Matte on my silver 1LT, and now have glossy orange on my black 2SS, will never do the matte again, glossy is much easier to care for!

I have used Meguiar's NXT Tech 2.0 liquid wax now for 4 years and it is great. I also wax the vinyl stripes, but I do the stripes by hand and the rest of the car with a orbital buffer. The NXT goes on very easy, is super easy to remove and lasts a long time.

If they are matte, don't do anything to them. If they are gloss you are fine to apply an lsp. Sealant will be better than wax because of the residue wax will leave on the edges.

+1 for Meticulous Matte spray. I use it on my Matte black hood.

Tech writeup on the subject, including information gathered and confirmed by the companies that actually make the materials for factory vinyl (and most aftermarket) packages. This isn't just "I've been using..." opinion - I actually researched this topic very heavily and contacted the film materials technical experts with the different manufactures to get this information together. This is the best practices recommendation:

Wax on Wax off

I wax my stripes every time I wax the car. It takes too long to try and mask them off. I use meguiars everything.

Now as a recommendation to everyone, I follow up waxing the car with shot of detailing spray, used drier sheets, and a magic eraser. I clean up the matte stripes on the car back to the original luster.

5 years later and the car and stripes look amazing.

You use dryer sheets and a magic eraser on your car's paint?...

I think he meant the stripes, but still not advisable.

Magic eraser' s are a very fine abrasive which is why it is 'majic' would not use them on my car. Work great for rough and tumble boat interior tho

actually also suitable for removing more stubborn scuffs from kick panels and similar areas, definitely wouldn't ever use one on a surface thats delicate.

also need to exercise some level of caution with them - they will create a 'shiny spot' on some plastics, so even on interiors they come with some risk.
