I doubt they'll put the 2.7 into the Colorado/Canyon this generation. Yes, its torquier but that seems like the only advantage it holds. Thats not nothing, but its not everything either. Its probably more expensive too, and there are already too many people balking at the price of the V6 midsizers. And I know GM doesn't really care much about this (their concern is CAFE scores), but I'd expect better real world fuel economy out of the V6 than the big turbo4.

On the other hand, I imagine its still part of the same 4 cylinder family as the current base engine (and not, say a member of a 'big block 4' group of engines) which would make it a great deal simpler to include in the lineup, unlike putting the 5.3L V8 in there.

You are modest in your dreams for a turbo V6; 330/375 out of a small (sub 3L?) engine is certainly doable. I'd put more money on a high performance 'big' turbo6, but I'm thinking that the house would be winning that bet with no T6 happening at all.
Now that I see the chart that Fen posted up, I agree with you that the base 4.3 is likely a bit cheaper than the 2.7 turbo.

I also agree that its probably not more (or much at all) fuel efficient than the LGX 3.6 V6 either in the midsize trucks, but the press release does suggest it is more efficient than the 4.3 V6 in the full size trucks.

I realize that TQ isn't everything, especially when FE is considered, and thus the likely reason the 4.3 wasn't used in the GM mid-size twins. (I'm super happy with the 3.6 in my Colorado by the way) but IF the 2.7 is more efficient AND has more TQ, then its hard for me to see why they wouldn't use it. I'm sure if driven like a baby, its may be more efficient, but the LGX also has cylinder deactivation also, so they are probably close.

As for my "dreams" about a TTV6 in the midsizers....if they are planning a performance variant (Yes Please! lol) then by all means, it should be the 3.6TT. But if they were to simply replace the V6 with something comparable for FE purposes, but wanted lots more power, I think a small sub 3lt TTV6 would be pretty awesome too.

Silverado, and Sierra I'd assume.

If RAM were to overtake the totals of those two, it would be a huge shocker. That said, I think the RAM just might deserve it (don't judge me...that's my opinion lol. I think the new RAM is pretty great.)

Haha, I know, only joking.

As of March, GM (Silverado, Sierra) sold 73K+ more full size trucks than Ram. Ford cleared 38K more than the twins.

But who knows, with the updated trucks, how things will shake out.

With both GM & FCA retooling/ramping up for the new trucks this year, sales are going to be pretty wonky for a while. And since GM is now doing quarterly sales, it could be next April before there is a sales release that covers an entire period of full line production. Which is crazy ... and possibly a big part of why GM has ditched monthly sales.

I'm surprised they are still behind Ford in the power department. Ford's 2.7 for 2018 is 325/400 with the 10 speed also.

At least they kept the 6.2, albeit in a strange allocation to trim levels. Although Ford only offers the 3.5 in the Limited etc.

All nice trucks, but good grief....How many bumper-grilles, grille-bumpers, bumper-airdams can they put on the front of one vehicle?....The stacking of chromed, unchromed, painted, not painted split-bumper-split grille combos have obviously gotten out of control...lol....With that many levels to design, they can't make it look good no matter what they do...lol...

I see room enough at the bottom for one more piece of some kind. Perhaps a three-piece bug deflector for the very top also...why not?

You can get the 3.5EB almost throughout the entire line up. Even down to a single cab XL, provided you get the 8' bed.

You can't do a single cab, 5.5' or 6.5' bed, 3.5EB, which I believe is the only engine limiting factor.

GM is offering the 6.2 and the diesel in the 2019 AT4 which is basically the Trail Boss equivalent. Odd.

I think he was saying that in the Limited trim the 3.5EB is the only engine choice...

Did it get smaller? The red truck looks like it's marginally larger than a Colorado.
