I maintain the petition and post updates. It might ultimately turn out to be a waste of time, but it's not hurting anything now, so it will live on.

I can't understand why you are sticking up for them. Is there more to this story maybe?
I would be going apeshit. My blood is boiling now ,and it isn't me that has the blown up new car. Very confused.

Did they show you proof that your catch can caused the pump failure, or that it somehow how sucked all the oil out of the pan to uncover the pickup?

I guess I will be contacting my GM dealer this week. The main reason I purchased a CAI brand intake was because of their claim "NOTES: These are a direct replacement for the OEM air box. No modifications required. Retains the
OEM washer bottle in the stock location. Does not void factory warranty. Not for sale or use in California." Since I replaced the airbox and did not modify anything I am hoping to be OK with this one. :-/

So for now, the petition remains and the muky-mucks will continue to get updates and can read all the comments. Think of the petition as a living memorial to Superman09's engine.

Keep signing. GM is far oversteping their boundries.

Doesn't the last paragraph cover it:

"AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT ALTERATIONS AND WARRANTIES. The Chevrolet New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover any damage or failure resulting from modifications, installations, or alterations to the original equipment as manufactured or assembled by General Motors. The special body company, assembler, equipment installer or upfitter is solely responsible for warranties on the body or equipment and any alterations (or any effect of the alterations) to any of the parts, components, systems or assemblies installed by GM. General Motors is not responsible for the safety or quality of design features, materials or workmanship of any alterations by such suppliers"

Not saying the catch can or other mods made by the OP caused or contributed to the engine failure, but if that is what GM is claiming, then this is the clause they are probably using.

Okay, how about this:

Roll Call! Who has a catch-can installed and has had warranty work done after the install?

Sucks, im not brand loyal. I bought my Camaro because that was the first brand new car my dad bought, and currently mine was the first I bought. He passed his on to me and I will pass mine onto my son. However, next time im looking for a new car I will go elsewhere just because the folks at GM are being dicks.

That's the thing. They're not proving the "resulting from" part of this.

If I had a newer car that got fried and had them reject the warranty over a silly mod like a catch can ( that they introduced in the 16' models) then I surely wouldn't be saying that it is what it is and understand how they did what they had to do ?? Huh ?what kind of talk is that .. You got burned for possibly over ten grand on a new motor and you think they are justified ? This is crazy talk in my opinion. Surely there is missing information in this story . I would be livid

That sucks I had a dyno tune longtube headers cold air intake no mufflers and the manager guy just said awesome car and I got it fixed under warranty. I didn't even know my car was still under warranty.

Trying to connect the dots, but can't link catch-can = pump failure?

Raises a questions:

How is this decision going to affect Vendors on this site?

A lot of Vendors here sell performance mods -- and performance mods/appearance mods are what personalize our vehicles and has drawn us together in this community. ie. CamaroFests, Car-Meets and have unofficially become "ambassadors" and actually help sell this vehicle through word of mouth by talking it up with our circle of friends.

Unfortunately, looks like GM is making an unfavorable stance.

It's been said there are three sides to the story.

I see GM has not proved catch-can = pump failure, yet will not honor their end of the bargain.

Future purchase will not be a GM product.

*don't think the petition was a waste -- it's really effective.

If this in fact a statement by GM about their product, they are in breach of warranty on any and all Convertibles that had top problems. "They even go as far to tell you that you need to have you car serviced by qualified GM service professional at the recommended intervals."
There is not 1 certified GM tech in Minnesota that works on 5th gen tops. I got this information straight from Mary's office. I sure as hell hope they lose the class action against them.
