Straight Pipe Question

I am thinking about straight piping my exhaust and have a few questions.

1. Should I go 2.5 or 3 inch? What are the + & - of both.

2. Should I have them put some sort of x pipe or H pipe?

I have JBA high flow cats I would be leaving on

1. Don't. Will sound like raspy garbage
2. Get a bbk off-road xpipe it will give you a little more tone
3. Stay with 2 3/4 pipe

There is no con going to a 3inch setup compared to the stock. except it costs money.

find a good x/h pipe and muffler (or cat back) combo to control the tone

I listened to the clips. That's typical Flowmaster chambered sound. Sounds like either Super 40 or 44 series muffs in there. Or maybe even the old school Original 40's. I think it sounds pretty good honestly.

1. All depending on your final power goal. 3" is not really necessary until you're looking at 600+rwhp. 2.5" will flow sufficiently up until you get to the 600rwhp mark then 3" starts to be more beneficial.

2. X pipes have been known to have very good performance benefits vs. just going straight pipes back.

3inch exhaust sounds deeper/better than 2.5 and an H-pipe sounds deeper and less raspy than the X-pipe. You definitely want either an x-pipe or h-pipe vs nothing

I have the 3" Retro Exhaust from SW with an x-pipe, it has a deep sound and no rasp. I am asked about it a lot.

American racing headers 3inch X pipe ARH 2 1/2 strait pipe rest of the way down. Sounds mean as hell but I have a cam and other things done very loud
