4L80E Swap - Converter and Flexplate Questions

Well, my 4L80E swap is progressing. I can see th elight at the end of the tunnel! I have some questions/concerns about my torque converter mating up with my flexplate. I have the TCI flexplate (TCI 399754). I assume that I will be using the included spacer. I dropped in my new North Texas Converter and I measured from the trans housing to the bolting pads and it came out to 1 1/8". I lift the trans up into position and it looks like the torque converter bolt pads are really far from the flexplate. I have never messed with an LS enfgine before, but on SBC's and BBC's, the bolting pads are usually around 1/2" from the flexplate and you just slide the converter out to match. This looks like it will be closer to 1" away. That seems like a problem to me.

Anyone have any thoughts? (The flexplate is in with the sticker facing the right direction)

The converter mounting pads should be 1/8" to 3/16" from the flexplate. Make sure that the flexplate still has the main spacer bolted to it on the crank side. (Held in place with 3 small countersunk screws from the factory.) If it's over 3/16" gap, you can install 3 spacers of the same thickness and get it to tolerance. If it's over 1/2" gap, something is wrong.
