Skip Shift Eliminator

Anybody else find it practically impossible to get their skip shift eliminator installed? I can't even get my hand up there to pull the factory plug. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Space is tight on Gen6 for installing the skip shift eliminator, especially since you have to use a small screwdriver to release a clip. I easily guilted my dealer to put my '17 on a lift, after they installed a front license plate bracket when they promised they wouldn't. Even with it fully lifted it took a little effort. But if all else fails, try to get it done with next oil change assuming car will be ramped or lifted. Good luck.

I've done it on my ZL1 and on my neighbors 1SS1LE. It's doable but not easy. My hands are not small either. The one positive is that the connector that exists that you input the skip shift eliminator into is very easy to discconnect and to reconnect once you reach it.

Save some time and get it tuned. If you plan on doing any modding you'll need a tune sooner or later. You can tune that waste of time skip shift eliminator right out.

Mine was super easy. Just handed the dealer tech the SSE at my first oil change at 500 miles and said, "Here, install this for me." My '13 ZL1 was just as easy.

I just did mine and it is a PITA! I watched the how to video on line and it looked pretty easy but in reality there’s just no room up there for your hand. I used a short flat blade screwdriver to unlatch the clip and the rest was a piece of cake!

If it were to be tuned out would the message still be displayed?

Nope. Shouldn't be. But I'm sure GM would also figure out a way to screw you out of your warranty at that point. Depends on if you want to possibly void your warranty over a skip shift, or just install that one part. Although... They could probably figure out how to screw you over for that as well if they really wanted to be assholes.

Turn it a little bit more (RPM's) and it eliminates the skip shift. I bet I've had it pop up 3 times in a year. Not an issue for my driving style.
