Very close to buying one....are there any reliability issues?
Hi,
The dealership offered me a good value on trade-in on my 2011 Camaro 2SS Vert, and I am on the brinks of buying a new 2017 2SS Coupe. However, I am wondering, are there any many reliability issues that have been discovered in the 6th gen camaro yet? Are both the manual and automatic transmissions reliable? No issues with the LT4? EDIT: Sorry I meant LT1 Thanks! Last edited by Skyset; 05-04-2017 at 09:18 AM. |

Nothing, the dealer couldn't repair quickly if there was an issue. If you're really worried about it, you should probably read through the "Problems/Issues" subforum.
Also, with a 2SS you're not getting the LT4. You get the LT1. If you're truly getting a good deal, I see no reason not to do it. |

I personally wouldn't go down the problems/issues. Every car model/brand has these in their forums. No matter what car it is you will see scary threads about issues.
Get the new camaro if you want it, plain and simple. I can guarantee you that a new 6th gen will be more reliable than your 2011. You know the new platform is a whole new world compared the older ones. If you feel like you got a good trade in value and your happy to go to the next level, do it. You will be happy you did every time you drive it |

If you want it, don't hesitate. Just get it.
Sure, some of the 6th gens have issues here and there, but I had a 5th gen, and now I have a 6th gen and I've done my best to keep up on recalls while owning both and the 6th gen isn't much if any worse. I've had a couple of regular recalls done to my car, but its been good to me. You need to keep in mind that the LT1 engine has been around for 2 - 3 years before the Camaro in other forms or models, the transmission has also been around, and the chassis was borrowed from Cadillac. In the 2017 Camaro all of this stuff is going on 3 - 4 years old now. There are no "major" bugs still being worked out. Now that said, ever car, from every automaker can have issues. This is a mass-produced complicated car...bad examples will pop up. Go get it...and enjoy.

^^^ agree. He has a point. The major pieces in this car aren't brand new. Stuff you might experience with the new 6th gen would be bugs. Like i hear people complaining about the windshields fogging up (i've never experienced it). Also maybe glitches in the mylink and entertainment system. whistling noise by the side mirror. Little stuff like that. Every car brank/model has these. So like he says and i say, if you want the car go for it. Don't worry about problems/issues. It will be better than what your currently in and no different from any other new car

A couple of the car magazines have had long term Camaro test vehicles. They flail them mercilessly for photos and for track/test data. I haven't read about any issues yet.
BUY ONE. |

I would agree- most of the issues were sorted out in the first model year. Only major issue I know of is the rear differential groan. That has been my only issue in the first 15k miles.

You could worry yourself silly by reading all the problems in trouble sections for any car out there in their respective forums.

My 2017 2SS has been perfect, 4000 miles. It is a fun car and a good replacement for my 2009 Corvette. Buy it!!!--ce

My 2017 SS replaced my 2012 SS. No looking back. No comparison between the two. Don't overthink it.

Every car i ever leased or owned had some type of issue at a point it seems. BMW, Audi, Jeeps, Dodge Ect. i had the past years and this Camaro i can say is built pretty solid other then minor and some major problems that other members may have gone through i am more then pleased with my purchase and think you will be too.

Maybe the typical DI carbon on the valves problem down the line.
