Hi Temp brake fluid
They suggest high temp brake fluid for use on track days. What type and brand do you suggest?

I've used the Wilwood 570 brake fluid with good results. I was thinking of switching to the stuff Pete at Pedders recommends....I would have to find the thread that had the name...

Used motul the last time and it seemed like it was only my pads that were fading/cooking. No clutch issues either. Got upgraded pads and another flush before the next track day planned.

Motul RBF 600, Wilwood 600, Superblue or Castrol SRF. Can´t go wrong with any of those!

How many bottles of 1/2 liter do I need to replace the brake fluid before I order?

If you are ordering it online I would get at least 3, 2 is usually enough for a full brake flush but it wouldn't hurt to have a spare in case. Plus if you just need to do a quick bleed that extra bottle will come in handy! /Erik |

I used 5

5 bottles? Doing an abs bleed with a computer is great to insure there is no air in the ABS pump, but the clutch is still done manually. A complete brake system including clutch capacity is about 700ml, add on another 500ml for flushing and cleaning out all the all crap. Using 5 bottles seems quite excessive.

I agree
I just think they were unfamiliar with the job and over cautious, but it cost me a couple of bottles.

ive always used super blue fluid. thats what most of the guys i track with use.
the main thing is to keep fresh hi temp fluid in there. like the other guy said, get the extra fluid. i keep a gallon on the shelf in my shop. i sometimes bleed em after day one of a two day event. get a motive bleeder too. EZ |

Use superblue, one can, will have some left over. Next time use the amber version of superblue. This way u can always tell difference. By the way, the gm guys used superblue on the gingermna media event with the first 1LE tests. I forgot which article mentioned the superblue. Its made by continental, which is a large automotive supplier for brake parts too.

There is only one gold standard for brake fluid and it is Castrol SRF. Carbotech has a concise chart on the better fluids. The SRF Wet Boil is as high as the Dry Boil in another top rated fluid. http://www.ctbrakes.com/brake-fluid.asp
ATE Super Blue/TYP 200 Super Blue is a very high performing brake fluid. A mainstay in German automobiles, Super Blue is arguably the best value for your money in brake fluid. Dry: 280°C (536°F) Wet: 198°C (388°F) 1 Liter $19.95 Brembo LCF600 LCF600 is the newest brake fluid on the market. Excellent choice for track use. Proven low compressibility. It gives a firmer pedal feel then most other brands. Dry: 316°C (601°F) Wet: 204°C (399°F) 16.9oz/ .53 quarts .50 Liter/ 500ml $19.95 CASTROL SRF The SRF is the absolute best brake fluid on the market, period. If you want the best the Castrol SRF is it. Due to it's extremely high dry & wet boiling points. Dry: 310°C (590°F) Wet: 270°C (518°F) 1 Liter $79.95 MOTUL RBF600 The world's best selling brake fluid. Developed for all forms and levels of racing, the RBF600 is one of the most popular fluid's on the market today. Dry: 312°C (594°F) Wet: 216°C (421°F) 16.9oz/ .53 quarts .50 Liter/ 500ml $22.50 My cars do not see track time with anything other than SRF. |
