My stingray is more sophisticated and a much faster cornering car than my 2ss. Also, its status and look is better, and the roof comes off which is sweet.

With that said, its pretty close to the vette at its heart, and Im not sure I could have rationalized buying the vette if I owned the SS first, they are that close!

I like what GM is doing these days, and I dont think many that really want a vette will buy a camaro.

I dunno. I really wanted a C7 but my business wasn't going as strong as it once was & my income slowed significantly, so I just couldn't pull the trigger on the higher C7 cost vs. the 2SS. I love my Camaro, but I really wanted the C7.

I too like what Chevy is doing. I hope sales can continue to justify what they have been doing with their performance oriented cars.

I wanted the C7 Z06 as I've had both a C5 Z06 and C6 Z06. But the cost of the C7 Z06 was just a bit above my comfort level so I settled on the 2SS Fifty Edition. I still plan on picking up another Z06 down the road.

Same boat as most. Wanted the C7 for the status and looks. But it was a C7 w/Z51 and after options will cost about 2x as my SS. Thought about the infotainment system in the Vette (it's not as sharp as the SS) and since it won't be that much faster, the SS was the perfect buy.

Saving up for a C8 as we speak though

To answer the question in your post title "can C7 keep up with the Camaro" the Vette weighs several hundred pounds less and has the same motor so it not only can keep up but will beat a Camaro in every iteration. The ZL1 has the Z06 motor but it weighs 4000 lbs vs the Z06 3400 lbs. Just do the math.

4000 lbs. Wow! I didn't realize it gained that much weight. Makes sense though with all the extra goodies. I just figured they would have shed additional weight in other areas. Not as fat as my old 2010 Challenger SRT though.

+1
At ~4000 lbs, the ZL1 is a piggy.

They will feel completely different. Nevertheless...the Camaro has been "allowed" to be the best it can be.

But it appears there is a new Corvette coming...Things are certainly interesting, and it's a great time to be a Chevy performance enthusiast!

With respect...you'll need to adjust your own math first, a bit. ZL1 is about 3900 lb, and Z06 is about 3500.

Furthermore...check out the lap times where these cars have both visited. At Willow Springs, Z06 Z07 set down a 1:25.00 lap. The ZL1 achieved a 1:26.16, and an unofficial 1.25.8 w/ manual. Supposedly, the ZL1 w/ 1LE package chops 3 more seconds off per lap around a 2.9 mile course. That...will result in a pretty comfortable lead beyond a Z06 Z07.

Can't wait to see what the ZL1 1LE can do around VIR when Car and Driver gets their hands on one.

That is literally amazing! Now if we can just figure out where the ZL1 1LE will come in price wise, this will help a lot of us sitting on the fence.

Of the three cars, a ZL1 is easily going to be the best daily driver, but Valet's will park the Z06 out front.

Trying to compare the different models of the 2017 Corvette and 2017 Camaro is not black and white for me. However, I view the Corvette Grand Sport in competition with the ZL1 Camaro. I realize a lot of people will compare the Corvette ZO6 to the ZL1 Camaro because they have the same engine. However, the price of the faster and better handling ZO6 is CONSIDERABLY more.

When evaluating performance, the ZL1 is faster in a straight line - 0-60 mph, 1/4 mile and top speed. However, the Grand Sport [even without the ZO7 package] does corner better than a ZL1. When evaluating price the Grand Sport 2LT [without the ZO7 package] is approximately $7,600 more than the ZL1.

So I ask, is the Grand Sport worth the price difference??? Did Chevrolet hurt the sales of the Grand Sport with the capable ZL1??

Thanks everyone for your responses - I am enjoying them. Please keep them coming.

Not according to GM. Actually 4113lbs for a manual and even more for A10 4148lbs. That's a whopping 648lbs more than a C7.

You quoted convertible weights.

3883 (manual), 3944 (automatic)

Furthermore, while we're quoting exact numbers, Z06 manual is 3524.

Regardless of the weights...the lap times seem to speak for themselves...
