Awesome video you posted! Congrats on the retirement haha.

Glad everything worked out. Always nice to hear these types of stories as inconvenient as it may have been to you.

My best friends C6z (Stock) just dropped a Valve. LS7 seem to be notorious for failure. Widely documented on Vette forums.

Bought his C6z from Carmax 29k miles with Extended warranty (Thank God) Dropped a valve 1 month later. 3rd party warranty denied to cover, Chevy & Carmax fought the 3rd party until they approved it. Long story short my friends car is good again. GM you're the best!!

My Brother-in-law sent this to me yesterday:

I'll be changing Oil this week with the new motor. Might send a sample out for testing and will have an in-depth look at the Oil Filter.

Nothing in the attached article makes any technical sense. Pure male cow droppings.

On both aspects (metal from filter threads in the oil and oil foaming from contact with sealant?), if the engine runs, with either of these conditions, for more than a few minutes, DAMAGE HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE!

With foamy oil (BS #2), it would take a little longer. Under any kind of load and RPM, anything lubed by oil would begin self destructing.

Cause of failure (story #1) is much more believable. Saw it happen hundreds of times in the mid 90's with WIX manufactured oil filters on Cummins B Series Diesels. But the fact remains, once a piece of metal enters through the "clean side" of the oil filter (center, where the threads are), the engine is toast (just may take a few minutes for it to totally destroy)!

I call BS.....

Keep in mind I did not write it. Just some info. Thus the reason why I'll be looking at the filter and sending a sample out for testing.

In our Pro Stock motors we had at lease 12 Magnets epoxyed throughout the Motor just for inspection purposes.

Glad to see it was taken care of. Were you at the Street Nationals this year? I saw a couple of Z/28's there including one at Har Mar after and didn't know if they're locals.

No reflection on you, just the article filled with GM mumbo-jumbo, blablabla...... Really make you wonder...been building the 427 for years, you'd think they'd have it figured-out by now....

Changed oil & filter twice so far , I have 200 miles and 2 track days on mine. Wanted to make sure didn't have any manufacturing debris left over. Cheap insurance

That article was in reference to the LT4 engine in the C7 Z06, btw...

I think changing the engine oil early is a good idea. It can't hurt to do it and could be potentially an issue if it is not.
