Trade Grand Sport for ZL1? Opinions please

So, I've had my 2LT MN7 GS for a year now as of Dec 2nd and put 10K great miles on it. Been seriously considering getting back into a Camaro as I immediately regretted letting my 16 SS go even though I'm a long time vette guy- this is number 5 for me. Something so special about the gen6, but I don't gotta tell you guys that. Thoughts and opinions as to trading the GS in on a new ZL1 (non 1LE).

Thanks

Would you be looking at a manual or auto ZL1?

Keep the GS unless you want to go to a car with no miles again so you can drive it a bunch more.

Owning a c6z51 , C7 in the past and 5 th Gen Camaro I think c7 ride is little softer than 18 zl1. But 18 zl1 is not broke in but I can already tell performance and handling is on par .

[QUOTE=Zap city;10008151]Stick. Not an auto guy

Try the A10. I am a stick guy myself but this car in the A10 is really nice. I have a 13' ZR1 as well ( 27 Vettes since 1974 ) which I was able to keep and it's a real toss up as to which one I like more. The ZL1 is that good in my humble opinion

Do it. I got rid of my Z06 and I like the Zl1 better. I know, I'm in the minority here.

I would say if you want back into a Camaro the ZL1 is the way to go! Unless you want to wait until the 2019 refresh is revealed to see if the Z/28 will make a return.

Thanks for the insights. As for the A10, I have no interest in an automatic whatsoever, no matter how good it is. I'm working on being pretty close to a swap car for car at this point, or least, minimal trading difference for cash. My SS had mag ride, so I know how well the gen6 with mag handles and rides. Just wondering if I will ultimately be happy letting the vette go. I know I like my GS, but I LOVED my SS. Didn't know how much until I sold her to buy the vette.

Well I guess first what qualities about the SS did you love so much that you miss now? Back seats? Not as low to get into and out of? I'd make a list of the qualities you like better about the Camaro and the qualities you like better about the GS. Then you can look at what characteristics about the Camaro are drawing you back to it. Maybe these items will look silly once on paper or maybe they will just make the decision obvious and even easier.

I have a 5th Gen 1LE and I like to take my car to the track. So I've been looking for the last 6 months or so at moving to a C5 or C6 Corvette for the weight savings and better track oriented car. But I do wonder if I will end up missing my 1LE even though the Corvette would make a better track car.

Good luck with your decision and ultimately only you can really decide which car you really prefer more.

That is probably the best advice. What is it about the Camaro you are missing compared to the Vette
