2SS rear end ratios
I am confused on the 2SS gear ratios. If you look at the Chevy site it appears that the 2SS with A8 has a ratio of 3.27 but when I had one built out by the dealer it shows to be 2.77. I believe the M6 is a 3.73.
What is the actual ratio for a 2SS with A8? Also, does anyone know what the tranny ratios are for the A8? I searched but could not find anything. |

Cool thanks guys. With what I have seen as far as performance numbers the 2.77 does not hurt the cars performance at all. The first 4 gears in the A8 must be pretty low.

1st gear is hellacious in any of these new 8 speeds (ZF based or GM). Makes for a brutal launch.

Wasn't it compared to a th400 with 4.10 gears as a reference to how quick first gear is?

I wish they offered a few rear gear ratios on the manual like Ford does. A manual SS with a 3:90/4:10 instead of the 3:73 would come out of the hole just as hard, if not harder as the A8, and have even more pull up top than the A8. But it may be a CAFE thing... A gear swap will be a relatively cheap mod, with good gains on the manuals I think. Not sure how many ratios are available yet for the new rear though... |

Does anyone know if the rear end is the same from the Camaro 5 with different gears?
I'd love to swap in the 3.73s to a CA5 if that's possible. |

Our A8 is shifting to fourth just a little bit before the 1/4 mile. Pretty quick gears. If I paddle or manual shift while in 1st gear at 20MPH, I need to upshift as soon as I start mashing the pedal.

The question is...would people have been willing to have gear options at the trade off of having AFM? |

Not sure about that, the 5th gen 1LE's have 3:90's and the LT1 gets better mileage then the LS3. So I think they may be saving it for a option package like a new 1LE...
