Grinding on 1-2, occasionally 3-4 under WOT

When I am pushing her hard, the trans grinds sometimes from 1-2 and rarely 2-3. Is this a sign of clutch starting to go? I know for certain I have the pedal pushed down. Once I had to press the clutch twice to get it into second.

This happens to me sometimes...I wonder if I need to bleed the clutch. Mine's a 2010 and it got a new trans in 2013 (snapped my output shaft like some other early cars have experienced)

How would bleeding it resolve this? I am increasingly concerned because I don't want to drive off somewhere far and lose the clutch. Problem is that I bought it used, so I have no idea when it was last replaced (if ever). I'm wondering if I should just preemptively replace it.

I would try bleeding your clutch / replacing the fluid and changing your transmission fluid and going from there. There are a lot of options for fluids that SS guys like to run.

Clutch was bled in October 2018. Transmission fluid replaced in November 2018.

I have already tried the fluids

Hm. That's unfortunate. My next thought would be to upgrade to the Ideal Garage master cylinder for your clutch (which frankly I would do if you swap your clutch too). But it does sound like your clutch is dying.

Now that said to my knowledge if you aren't racing or anything it seems like the clutches in these cars don't just "go". It'll just keep getting worse. Both my stock and my previous twin disc clutch would drive "okay" at the end of their life but it was obvious they would slip under low rpm high load or just taking off and caused me to grind 2nd and 3rd maybe a half dozen times total.

Thank you for the information. If that's the case, maybe I'll venture across the country again. Seems like I would have enough warning if things got really bad to plan a repair.

I can't find the master cylinder you mention.

I guess IdealG doesn't exist anymore. That is also unfortunate. But yeah, I definitely think you don't have to worry about it yet. Depending on how much you drive it could very well be this year though. Once you get uncomfortable with it, swap it.

you have a 14? You shouldn't be having those issues, as they were using the carbon fiber synchros by then. My suggestion is to make sure you have a remote reservoir for the clutch, bleed it again, and consider swapping in a stainless clutch line and master cylinder from tick...if that doesn't fix it then you're looking at a synchro job for the trans

Its your synchros , im going thru the same issue with a 2015 1le . The Tremec6060 is know to have this problem. Swapped out fluid and changed clutch same issue. Ordering full carbon fiber rings soon !

White out- your car came from the factory with carbon fiber Synchros. e They shouldn't be worn. If they are you should be examining all your hydraulic components as something caused then to wear prematurely. All came with carbon Synchros.

If you do not know if there is a clutch or synchronization problem, check it out by double-tapping the clutch.

Like in a truck without synchronization.

If you can shift without gringing, is a problem with sanyronization.
If the problem persists, is a problem in the clutch.
