Monday on my day off I'll be able to go back out and try adjusting them. I'll try wiggling them and see if they'll go into the orange retainers better. If not I'll have to get a replacement as it could very well be a Quality control problem who knows. I expected they'd me a little off since they aren't oem lights but not this bad and I don't think this brand would have let them get this far off since they weren't cheap lights.

The service manual isn't too descriptive (see below), and it's been a while for me, too

This gap is huge, it would be an obvious defect that any QA would pick up immediately.

Here are pictures of the bolts they will not go in any further on the outer side of the taillights. It appears that the center post is too long to allow the light to properly be inserted and sit flush with the body.

That makes sense, it seems the lamp body should sit closer to the retainers. Did you compare the new aftermarket unit to the OEMs you removed?

No, but I guraantee that's the problem, I'll have to measure the length of the center post on the oems and see if the new ones center post is too long.

Fixed it, turns out the posts were too long from the factory, I cut them with a hot knife and they installed perfectly. Man I hate aftermarket crap, but the lights are the style I really wanted.

Glad you got it fixed. My first feeling was after market issue.

We can see too far.

Now that looks much more like it. Kudos to you for seeing this through and fixing the underlying issue

You're not wrong, the odds are stacked against OP... but people still want lambo style taillights no matter what we say

0 reports on dead batteries, if anything it'll help with the battery since the old style are halogen and use more electricity. I've had them in and running for a while now and no dead battery. I have soo many electronics installed on my camaro I'm suprised I haven't blown the battery.

No wires are blocking anything.

What tail lights were these?
