E85 N/A
I’m sure it’s been talked about I’m just not seeing much feedback , has anyone with a Ss4 nfc sbe 100% stock heads build gone E85 ? What gains did you get from the e85 ?
Is the Holley Hiram worth it ? What rpm are y’all shifting to ? (Auto) Is hollow valves definitely needed to rev to 7300 RPM ? Thanks! |

Your going to gain about 5 hp switching to E-85. No matter the camshaft, unless you bump the compression significantly or add boost it’s not worth it on horsepower merits alone. It does smell great though. High ram is worth it. 7500, I have an auto car. The hollow valves put less stress on the whole valve train, if your trying to spin it past 7k I would say it’s a must.

I made 721 on 93 and 801 on E60 10 minutes later (E98 poured into existing 93 in tank) at 13#. N/A you probably won’t see much.

Hollow valves definitely needed? Not necessarily but recommended because its less strain on the valvetrain. I ran the solid L99 valves for 3 years with the SS4 spinning to 7600rpm, but when I had the heads ported last spring I went to hollow stems and spin to 7800rpm now. The high ram is good if you want to cut your hood, but the short runner intakes are really just starting to make power after 7000rpm and want boost or a solid roller setup. And like previously said, E85 won't yield much hp without a huge bump in compression or without boost. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback guys , what about springs ? Should I go from 660 springs to the 700 springs ? My plan is to throw a hi ram on the car , and rev to about 7300-7500 , right now it’s set to rev only to 6800-7000 I believe

Both work well. I had 660s for those first 3 years then went to to Pac 700s upon doing the heads and hollow stem valves, have had them in since March, no issues

Gotcha! What gains did you notice from porting the heads ? What times difference? I also want to port my heads and take advantage of the situation and swap the valves and springs

Gained 41rwhp from doing the heads and a 102 mm NW throttle body, the new springs went into it too. No new times yet.

OP stated it is a SS4 nfc cam. That is a GPI cam; stage 4 no fly cut.
