ZL1 Belly Pan and LT Headers
Take a look at the pic below. The distance between the LT headers and the belly pan is about an inch. Wouldn't that be too close for comfort with the heat LTs produce? I imagine the belly pan plastic melting. What is everyone's thoughts here? Keep the belly pan off and sell since its new or keep it installed?
Thanks! |

Sorry, can you explain what you mean?

He means where your primaries are for the headers a section needs to come out. I attached a pic from MValdez17 so you can get an idea, that way you dont have to worry about it possible melting, though yours do seem to have a little more room, but I think its a safer bet.

I would run it like it is. You can check it in a few weeks to see if there's any melting. Worst that can happen is that it melts where it's too close. If it does, you then know how far you have to trim.

There should be some insulation/shielding to help with the heat. The only reason I cut mine was because they long tube sat lower than the belly pan. I would leave it and keep an eye on it. Its not thin plastic so it will handle the heat a little better.
If you feel that it will cause problems, then cut around the headers, like I did on mine.

Most I've seen hang below the sub frame. Do you know it they are 1 3/4" or 1 7/8" primaries?

I would leave it. Worst case scenario it melts or bubbles the pan and you can take snips to it to notch it. My zl1 belly pan has heat shields in that area so that may be good.

Were the heat shields from GM or you got them and added them? Do you have LT headers?
