GM cold air
Hi Al O
I met you at Barrett Jackson last year (That's Fn A O) Ha Ha. GM came out with their own Cold Air Intake. 1. I can buy one and put it on myself (is it worth the $ ?) 2. ( If I buy) Should a GM tech install it with the GM tune? 3. A friend of mine had a dealer do it (is it worth it)? I have a 2016 2SS A8 Thanks ahead of time. |

Yes on getting it with the tune. And if a dealer-install preserves any part of any warranty that you'd give up by doing it yourself, give serious consideration to having the dealer do the job. That's what I went through 10 years ago for the car in my sig, and since you're also talking about a mfr's own tune I doubt it's going to be much different for you.
Chances are that GM's own tune will be more driveable overall at a small sacrifice in the peak HP number compared to commonly available tunes (and cheaper than getting dyno-tuned and datalogged to anything better). Norm

I believe there are other performance parts now such as headers that will get you in the 11's. I don't think a GM CAI will get you there.
Maybe rephrase the question to ask about all the engine performance stuff. |

So is the cold air & tune an asterisked part? Especially if it's noted as being at least 49-state compliant?

GMPP cold air
You can get it at thatcamaropartsguy.com $390 bucks, I installed it myself, took about 45 minutes. Comes with a free flash update from Chevy, the dealership did it when I took it in for an oil change. 12.4 @ 114 mph picked up .4 in the quarter
