Is there any trick to getting the retaining ring back on? I have the retaining ring toll and was able to eventually get the ring off. For the life of me, I can not get it back on. I have tried hitting socket wrench with rubber mallet but honestly I feel like I am going to crack tank or something.

Use a metal hammer and the biggest straight screwdriver you have. It won't crack the tank.

Thanks Blake - I still used the tool. I just hit it harder than I really wanted to and It seated correctly.
