List of curb weight by configuration, trim & options
Anyone ever see a comprehensive list of curb weight sorted by configuration, trim level and options? For example, I tried searching online to find the weight of my 2017 2LT RS A8 V6 convertible and cannot find anything specific. I'm curious to see how my car compares to other Camaros, and other cars.

I only have this weight chart from the 2018 Chevy order book that covers trim levels and doesn't break out options apart from 1LE. Hope it helps at least a little.

How is curb weight defined here? I don’t think that is just the weight of the car itself. Might include an allowance for fuel and a driver maybe some cargo.

"Curb weight (American English) or kerb weight (British English) is the total mass of a vehicle with standard equipment and all necessary operating consumables such as motor oil, transmission oil, coolant, air conditioning refrigerant, and sometimes a full tank of fuel, while not loaded with either passengers or cargo."

Thanks for posting.
A few things that are interesting. Weight added from lightest T4 coupe to heaviest ZL1 vert is 809 lbs. T4 and V6 weigh less with auto trans but SS weighs more with auto. Weight added for each convertible: T4 man 293 lbs. T4 auto 288 V6 man 267 V6 auto 274 SS man 271 SS auto 272 ZL1 man 230 ZL1 auto 204 So the lower the trim, the more the convertible weight is increased, by up to 89 lbs.? Do you mean ZL1 instead of LT1?

There seem to be 3 main "classes" of difference, ~290 lbs for the I4, ~270 lbs for the V6 and the SS, and ~230 lbs for the ZL1. The diagrams below partially explain why the lower trims have a different weight delta, they require more of the heavier additional chassis support components for the vert than higher trims. Since engine configuration also impacts the difference, there probably are other parts related to forced induction engine configurations that are already added to the coupe and thus reduce the weight difference between that and the vert.

However my A10 ZL1 was lighter than the chart at 3885 with 1/4 tank of gas. More recent chart:

Thanks for the LT1 to ZL1 correction... I had just finished reading a thread about a LT1 and was concentrating on the math, not the names.

Going off that chart of 18 models comparing the manual and auto SS and ZL1 cars it looks like the new A10 adds a nice chunk of weight over the old A8.
If you're wanting a lightweight V8 car I know GM lists the basic, no option, M6 LT1 at like 3,611 lbs. That's basically S197 Mustang GT weight which isn't bad in 2020 for what you're getting. |
