V6 and LT1 Recovery Points
The latest non-SS Camaros don't have a tow hook receiver, and because of the shape of the front fascia, no one sells an adapter.
The OM identifies holes in the undercarriage as recovery points. These are aft of the front wheels and hard to reach. I wonder whether the typical flatbed operator has a strap that can reach them as illustrated in the OM. Worse still, if a chain is used instead of a strap, I see the potential for damaging the aluminum sub-frame below the engine. Has anyone here had their LT1 or V6 Camaro winched onto a flatbed, and if so, what was your experience? Thanks! |

Yes, that would be good to have. I going to look into what I have to do to the fascia. Any one have one installed on a defresh model?

My '21 3LT has the receiver, looks like, and now I can access it since I "de-freshed" to a '16-18 front fascia. An additional benefit of my de-fresh mod?

Is there any issue fitting it on a stock 21 3LT front end?

I'll be looking at mine this evening to see. My 14 Mazda 3 had a tow hook from the factory. It was in the trunk with the jack. Will probably keep the Camaro hook in the trunk when I get it.

Is it maybe visible at the bottom of the passenger side of the upper grille section? If not, I guess you'd have to make a hole in the fascia to mount a tow hook. Not an optimal solution, obviously.

OP stated there is no way to reach it.
For 2019+ LT trim cars the front fascia does indeed cover the tow hook. The front crash bar is the same across all trims so the receiver physical point is there but no way to reach it due to the bumper. To OP’s question, most likely the tow driver would have their own chains they’d attach at those points and winch with the car in neutral.

But on a dark and stormy night, how to check all this when the tow driver just wants to get your car to a safe place ASAP? That's why I'm looking for 1st hand accounts of loading a non-SS with the refreshed fascia onto a flatbed. |

The SS guys have a pop-out section of the grill. The base model fascia doesn't have an access port to the tow hook mount unless you drill a hole in the plastic.
