No contest - The GT350 is though and we all know how much those go for - it's pathetic really.

The comparison is to 2SS only (no 1LE) IMO.

The GT PP2 can't come too close to the SS 1LE, or then it will be nearly on par with the GT350 (which the SS 1LE is). Which wouldn't sit well with GT350 owners, and then who would buy one? Just someone who has to have a "Shelby"?

Honestly, to me it is starting to look like Ford doesn't care. The 18 GT350 is carried over unchanged, so to me its almost like a place holder until the rumored GT500 shows up.

Also yes plenty of people will still buy it because it says Shelby on it. And it will still have a power advantage, the exclusivity of the VooDoo etc etc over the GT.

Mustang GT PP with MagneRide
43,685

Camaro SS 1LE
44,495

That's an 810 dollar difference.. If you tack on the dual mode exhaust on the Mustang, then it costs just a little more than Camaro. Camaro still has more features.

However, if you decide not to get MagneRide or dual mode exhaust on Mustang, then it'll be over 2k cheaper than Camaro.. Not exactly apples to apples thou gh.

Yeah it seems Mustang offers a little more flexibility in how you configure the car, but that also at the same time kind of goes away bc of the way Ford packages its options

Camaro still leads with all the heavy duty cooling. I'm just hoping I don't regret buying now instead of waiting for 2019 camaro.

The biggest thing to wait and see about is if the new GT PP finally stiffened up the springs and sways to an appropriate amount. It has always been way too soft compared to the 1LE and even the SS. Mag Ride will at least help with the damping, but we'll see how the rest pans out. Its certainly going to be out tired by the SS 1LE.

It'll get closer but without an e-lsd, the absolute best that the GT PP could hope for is to compete with an SS with the 1LE suspension upgrade....and that's ignoring the chassis questions.

A 2018 1SS 1LE is $44,495. So, the Mustang costs more actually.

After reading the updated 18 mustang, it seems like they are putting a huge emphasis on straight line speed, line lock standard (who doesn't love burnouts wit PS tires...) and making the A10 work to get that coveted 0-60 time of >4 seconds. I don't drag race, and 0-60 times don't mean much to me. I'm glad Ford is stepping up because I think the v6 1LE beat the 2017 GT PP at VIR, which was probably pretty embarrassing for ford, so now they are stepping it up. I think most can agree that what makes the G6 camaro is the chassis. the 330hp v6 ran .5 slower than a 707hp hellcat and beat a lot of other high horsepower cars. The 1LE takes that chassis and adds a nice engine and runs with most porsches and other very nice cars. Then the ZL1 1LE destroys nearly everything. Unless the gt350 comes out with a S/C I think Ford is going to have another tough year in comparison testing..

I still think the rev match system on our cars is HUGELY under rated! I didn't think it was a huge deal before I bought the car, but I am man enough to admit I use the system almost 100% of the time I'm in the car! If I traded my car for a GT350 that would be the first mod is an auto rev match system.

I assume they aren't but I think it would be a good idea for Ford to provide this for the new 6speed mustangs.

Since the 1LE package is aimed at road course/autocross use, this specific comparison must be centered on those parameters. Therefore, the 2018 Mustang GT PP will not be equal to the 2018 Camaro SS 1LE.
