Fast list

So I've been looking at and comparing my times vs mods against everyone else on our bolt-on fast list and my car seems waaaay off the mark. I'm not sure why or what could be the cause of it, but some of the times are insane. 11.3 @ 119 mph vs 12.3 @ 112 for me. That's a full second and 7 mph difference. That takes either a shit load of weight reduction or my engine is a big ass turd....... The only difference in mods listed is bigs and Littles but that's worth at most a tenth or 2. Cuts about 100lbs of weight from the car. Anyone else care to chime in?

It does tend to strain credulity, when lots of the cammed all motor crowd are struggling just for 11.5 and you see 11.2-11.3 on a bolt-on without internal modifications list... then again the fast list IS on the honor system. For just bolt-ons, you're doing just fine, really.

Are you considering gear changes and torque converter changes? Those make a big difference.

The Fast List broke my heart too.

Your numbers look fine to me. A lot of it has to do with average DA. During the summer, we never see many days below 4-5K ft. I often dial in at 12.3 and I have gears and a cam. You are running comparable ETs with just bolt ons.

Yeah my mods are in my sig. I just don't see how anyone can run that fast with the exact same mods as me and the only difference is the racing wheels. It would have to be damn near a gutted 3000lb car.

This!

Gears and drag radials got me into low 12's on a L99 with a tune and some suspension work.

But you guys have maximized your bolt ons in the process which is gonna set you up for really good times when the bigger mods go in.

Also, Merc doesn't put every single mod on there every time; many people's mod list would never fit in one row like on the list, so just the main ones go up. You'd be more likely to get a bit better big picture (track conditions, race weight, mods, etc) by going to the original post of the timeslips

I've done just that. The post in question doesn't have any info besides asking to have his time updated with a pic of the slip that's no longer there. I don't have gears and neither does that person. Gears aren't needed to run low 12s. I've proven that as such already. No suspension mods, 20" drag radials @ 24psi. If track prep is good, I get 1.6 short times. Otherwise it's a mix of 1.8 to 1.7s. The converter makes use of our already pretty aggressive 1st gear. I feel that anything deeper without a dedicated racing suspension setup is a moot point as the car won't hook.

Like I said, your build has been my model. It makes sense to make sure the car can handle the power before it's added. A couple more minor tweeks and cam selection can begin along with its supporting mods.
Your car is dialed in so nice. I hope mine does as well when she's done.

Thanks, I read through that. He never listed actual race weight but if it's the 3800lbs with him in it, then that's a good 400 lbs lighter than me right off the bat. He has a smaller converter too, a 4C vs my 5C. GPI intake manifold, 2" headers, 3" exhaust, RT-S 17s front./rear, not sure what CAI, I'm assuming a Vararam, Ported TB. So I guess I have a few more things to do to it yet.

Thank you! Its slowly coming together. I have to do those other things like drivetrain and fuel system before the fun stuff, but it'll get there someday. The valvetrain still needs some tweaking, with some lighter valves and other things since I spin mine to 7700 RPM. If you have any questions on specifics of the build, just ask and I will answer the best I can!

Yeah and he was at 382rwhp and pulling an 11.3. I saw later when he did the cam and heads he was able to get down to I think a 10.6 for Category 5, which thats good and all, but the 11.3 is what really gets my attention. That was what I was running last year but I was cammed and +100rwhp to that 382, and my 11.0 this year was the same but with an LOD intake and race weight of 3,775 lbs
