Living with the 3.6 for a while now, it's adequate for the application. It is in almost everything GM makes as well nowadays. I would have opted for a 5.3 or even the 2.7L if it was available however.

i just watched a good YT video of the new Bronco and this vehicle is awesome.

With that being said, please GM...get in on this segment! Ford jumped in and Jeep is upping the ante with a potential V8 Wrangler. There is a huge market for capable 4x4's. Just for example, I see a lot of new Silverado's on the road and I would safely say that 70-75% of them are of the Trail Boss variety. Make it happen GM and I will be purchasing a new DD.

If the concept moves to production, big IF, then I wonder how utilizing the 6.4 will effect cost vs the, admittedly soft, 5.7. It almost seems to me the 5.7 would give the people a V8 that they've been wanting, but also do it at a more accessible price point. Also with it's lower output it wouldn't completely overwhelm the chassis.

yeah I totally agree.

The 5.7 really wakes up with simple cam swaps later down the road for those looking for more.

I mean you can already spend 50K right on a Wrangler as it stands today? What is this thing going to cost?

Good input. I will say if folks are spending 60K on a Bronco..... A V8 Wrangler is probably in that range, right?

So a Wrangler optioning the 3.0 diesel is a $4k option. In Challenger, going from a R/T to a Scat Pack is almost a $6k option. So I guess a similar if not more additional cost. As Challenger was designed to have a V8 to begin with. Wrangler was not, 5hey would not only have to recoup the cost of the engine but the tooling change to accept and to put that engine into Wrangler.
