GM Reveals 2021 Buick Envision

Buick Strengthens Premium SUV Lineup with 2021 Envision
Striking new design and Avenir trim among updates
General Motors

May 29th, 2020

DETROIT — Customers seeking Buick’s styling and refinement within the industry’s most popular segments will have another fresh choice when the 2021 Envision arrives early next year.

“The all-new 2021 Envision is part of Buick’s strategy to grow its family of premium SUVs,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president, Global Buick and GMC. “It joins the new 2020 Encore GX, which offers safety, functionality and styling tailored around the size and space preferences of today’s small and compact SUV buyers.”

The new Envision will also be purposefully contented with standard active safety technologies, such as:
  • Automatic Emergency Braking*
  • Front Pedestrian Braking*
  • Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning*
  • Forward Collision Alert*
  • Following Distance Indicator*
  • Rear Park Assist*
  • Safety Alert Seat*
  • HD Rear Vision Camera*

Additionally, the new Envision will offer available safety and driver assistance technologies that are important to today’s SUV buyers, including:

Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist*
HD Surround Vision*
Front Park Assist*
Rear Cross Traffic Alert*
Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert*
Head-up Display
Rear Camera Mirror*

“The design of and technology in the all-new Buick Envision are sure to be a hit in today’s growing premium SUV market,” said Helen Emsley, executive director, Global Buick and GMC Design. “The 2021 Envision will be lower and wider, with premium proportions and striking styling designed to combine the expressiveness of a car with the practicality of an SUV.”

Buick’s popular premium Avenir trim will be available on the 2021 Envision for the first time.

The 2021 Envision will also offer Buick’s first available 10-inch diagonal touchscreen infotainment system, and it will include in-vehicle apps, such as Amazon Alexa built-in1, Spotify, Pandora and Fox Sports. Projection features Apple CarPlay2 and Android Auto3 will also be included.

The Envision will be powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine and a nine-speed transmission.

More details for the Envision, including for its Avenir trim, will be revealed later this year.

It looks closer to the XT4. Will this be built in Kansas with Malibu & XT4? If so, should've got a fresh name.

While not a complete knock out....MUCH better than the current Envision. This is something I'd actually consider showing the wife if we were shopping around for a replacement for our 18' Terrain.

Two things: Need to see some interior shots! Wheels on that trim (which I assume is Avenir) are kind of meh.

It's on the E2XX platform so I'd say that's a safe assumption.

Spy shots showed a massive infotainment system.

Exactly what I thought. It looks like a Mazda CX-5 with an upscale grille.
Not a bad looking vehicle. It just sucks that all similar vehicles look the same today.

X3 my thought exactly, looks like an upscale Mazda and that's not a bad thing. I think the majority of Mazda lineup is really good looking.

From what I’ve heard it’s supposed to be built in China. Not to turn this into a political spat, I’m no right winger but I just couldn’t buy a Chinese vehicle at this time. Hopefully GM will decide to built it stateside or at least in North America at some point.

Some new shots of the Envision. First below is the Avenir trim....I was thinking the gray one above was...but glad I was wrong. I think this is an attractive little SUV. Looking forward to seeing the interior.

The Avenir looks great. Will be $$$$$. Really nice, great side profile. Front end is classy.

We're not in Kansas anymore...Malibu will be discontinued soon and the 2021 Buick Envision will be 100% Red Chinese parts and assembly in Shanghai, China.

GM must be so proud of itself.

Gross. Envision near bottom of the list on the 2019 index for GM as well which takes into account assembly location but where the parts are made.

These help, too...Let your conscience be your guide...Check the VIN before you buy....Good luck.

Got some interior shots.

Not a huge fan of the ivory / black interior, but I do think the dark brown / tan interior looks pretty good.

https://gmauthority.com/blog/2020/06...nd-new-photos/

Side note: I don't like the fact that this thing is made in China either, but lets face it...it will probably sell better there than here.

It stinks that between this, and the Blazer, which are two future replacement vehicles high on the list for my wife....are not made in the U.S.
