Snazzing Up My Interior w/ Carbon Fiber

I’ve been adding some carbon fiber accents from carbonaddons.com to my Camaro SS. I am so surprised at what a huge difference they make. I have a couple more trim pieces coming but I’m almost done. The hard part is not overdoing it. Trying to keep it classy.

As a former Ducati owner hooked on carbon fiber I approve.

I'm not a huge fan of carbon fiber, but you got me thinking about a few of those pieces. Looks great!

Looks good! I went all out on Alcantara and carbon fiber... probably to much for most, lol All of the pieces are holding up strong and still look great after a year or two in Texas. Most pieces from carbonaddons, ************, and TruFiber.

I’m also not a fan of carbon fiber but looks good in your Camaro!

Thank you! Hit up @kropscamaro16 (https://www.camaro6.com/forums/member.php?u=113857) as he does these custom. I had him do my knee bolsters (in red Alcantara) and center console (in the regular gray Alcantara). He added in some extra foam as well so the center console is especially extra comfortable, lol.

Carbon fiber is for high strength structural components. Not a fan of carbon fiber cosmetic trim.

I couldn't resist and added a few carbon fiber interior pieces. They definitely improved the overall look of the interior, it now looks more like that of a $60K car and not a $44K car that my 2SS originally was The photos don't do these parts justice, and they might feel a bit too much in pictures, but definitely not in reality.

One piece I'm proud of is the driver side left trim cover, because carbonaddons wasn't able to supply the part with the HUD switch cutout (been trying since last September or so, they kept pushing the date back, and their last response the other day was "maybe towards the middle or late in the year"), so after some waffling I decided to get the non-HUD variant and cut the hole into it myself.

All 4 rounded corners of the HUD switch panel are of a slightly different radius, but two of them are larger and the other two smaller, so I used a (very sharp) 3/4" and a 3/8" hollow punch to cut out the corners. Then I made straight(ish) cuts from one hole to the other, rounded the edges down with 320 grit sandpaper, then compounded and polished them down to a reasonably good look.

Took a couple hours, but it's pretty close to decent, definitely not perfect, but then again, I'm just a guy with ordinary tools, not a carbon fiber part manufacturer
